COMPETITION TEAMS

Join Our Dance Competition Teams! Lyrical, Jazz & Street Dance Competition Teams

Are you ready to take your dance skills to the next level? Our Competition Teams offer an incredible opportunity for young dancers to showcase their talent, grow as performers, and become part of a dedicated and supportive dance family. We have teams for Minis, Juniors, and Seniors in Lyrical, Jazz, and Street Dance—each designed to challenge and inspire dancers to achieve their best, while building confidence, teamwork, and lifelong memories.

Age Groups & Teams

We offer three different age groups for each of our competition teams:
1. Minis Team (Under 8s)
  • Perfect for our youngest dancers, the Minis team is designed for dancers under 8 years old who are ready to explore the exciting world of competitive dance. This team focuses on building foundational skills, confidence, and teamwork.
2. Juniors Team (Under 12s)
  • The Juniors team is for dancers under 12 years old who are looking to refine their technique, perform dynamic routines, and represent the studio at competitions. This team offers a step up in choreography difficulty and performance challenges.
3. Seniors Team (12+)
  • Our Seniors team is for dancers aged 12 and up who are committed to excelling in competitive dance. With more advanced routines, complex choreography, and the opportunity to work with guest teachers, this team pushes dancers to reach their full potential.

Training & Commitment

Being part of a Competition Team requires dedication, but the rewards are worth it! Here’s what to expect:

Additional Training Sessions
  • Dancers on our competition teams must attend at least one additional training session each week, where they will work on perfecting choreography and preparing for upcoming competitions.
Technique Classes
  • Lyrical and Jazz competition dancers must take at least one technique class per week—either ballet or jazz—to ensure they are building the strength, flexibility, and technique required for these styles.
  • Street Dance competition dancers are encouraged to attend our Friday Street Dance Classes with Megan to further hone their skills and stay in sync with the latest styles and trends.
Extra Rehearsals
  • In the lead-up to competitions, there may be extra rehearsals scheduled to fine-tune routines. These are crucial to ensuring the team is polished and performance-ready.
Competitions Across Scotland
  • Our teams compete at exciting events throughout Scotland, typically once or twice a month from November to May. Participation in these competitions is a great way for dancers to gain stage experience and grow as performers.

Why Join a Competition Team?

Participating in our Competition Teams offers so much more than just learning choreography and competing. Here are some of the benefits:
  • Build Confidence: Performing on stage in front of an audience is a fantastic way to build self-confidence and poise.
  • Teamwork: Dance is a team sport at its core, and competition teams foster strong bonds of trust and cooperation as dancers work together to achieve a common goal.
  • Persistence & Hard Work: Competitive dance teaches valuable life skills such as discipline, perseverance, and commitment—qualities that go beyond the dance floor.
  • Unforgettable Experiences: From thrilling competitions to the friendships made along the way, being part of a competition team creates memories that last a lifetime.

Exciting Opportunities for Our Competition Team Members

We offer plenty of exciting events and unique opportunities for our competition teams:
1. Competitions Across Scotland
  • We participate in various dance competitions from November to May, giving dancers the chance to perform regularly and gain invaluable stage experience. Some of the notable competitions we attend include Can You Dance? in Glasgow.
2. Guest Teachers & Choreographers
  • Our dancers have the incredible opportunity to work with guest teachers and professional choreographers throughout the year, gaining insights from industry professionals and learning new styles and techniques.
3. Annual Residential Trip
  • Each year, we organize a residential trip for our competition team members. This trip is a highlight of the year—combining dance workshops, team bonding, and lots of fun activities for an unforgettable experience!
